Nicolo Zaniolo says he needs to step up his approach after penning a new Roma deal.
The midfielder has signed terms to 2024.
"Staying here is what I wanted," he told Roma TV.
“We worked with my agent and the club for the future and I am very happy with this contract renewal. As soon as I signed the paperwork, the directors told me to keep my head on my shoulders, because it's very important to do well this year.
“I thought to myself, now it gets serious, I have to set the example as a professional both on and off the field. Last season I tried to do my best and was fortunate to find my room to shine. It'll be the same this year.
“It wasn't easy with all the pressure on my shoulders, but this is the life of a football player, it has pros and cons. I hope to continue playing well and making the fans happy."
