Wayne Rooney's son Kai has signed up with Manchester United's youth team.

According to The Sun, the six-year-old has been training alongside other United youngsters including Michael Carrick's son Jacey.

The development squad setup brings 25 talented kids together at the old Cliff training ground in Salford.

Rooney and Carrick have been seen taking their sons to training as they prepare for them possible careers in football.

A source told The Sun: "Wayne and Michael really get into it when they bring their their boys down.

"The kids seem to love it and have been coming down regularly in the week to train with the young development squad.

"It's a bit funny because both their dads aren't playing as much any more but these guys could be the club's stars of the future."

Players of Kai's age are not actually signed by United but rather prepared to be secured to schoolboy contracts when they turn 10 before moving into the professional setup at 16.
