Yoan Gouffran has not committed himself to Newcastle United as of yet, according to reports from the Chronicle.

Gouffran managed to revive his career at Newcastle United last season by playing a crucial role in helping the Magpies earn promotion into the Premier League.

And manager Rafael Benitez had revealed at the start of the month that the club were in discussions with the Frenchman over a new contract.

Benitez had said: "Yoan Gouffran has been an equally committed and dedicated team-player for this club, as well as a hugely popular member of the squad.

"I can confirm we are in early stage discussions now with Yoan's agent to see if there might be a solution that could work for both the player and the club which may see Yoan extend his service to Newcastle United, but we will know more in the coming days."

In an update though, the Chronicle have stated that Gouffran has not yet signed a new deal with Newcastle and is now very likely to leave upon the expiration of his current contract on Friday.
