Newcastle United are ready to test the resolve of Manchester United for Scott McTominay.

The Times says Newcastle have made an enquiry regarding McTominay's availability.

Eddie Howe's side are keen to bolster their midfield options alongside January arrival Bruno Guimaraes.

A second unnamed club have also reportedly contacted United to ask about McTominay.

The midfielder has been a regular for the Red Devils during the last three seasons.
