Newcastle target Sam pledges future with Charlton

Charlton winger Lloyd Sam has dismissed reports linking him with a move to Championship leaders Newcastle. Reports have suggested that the Magpies have been closely monitoring Sam for several months.

Sam told the club's official website: "I haven't seen that. I've not seen anything at the minute, and that's being completely honest."

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and speculation have suggested the cash-strapped Addicks might be forced into selling him in January or risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

Sam added: "I haven't started talking with the club yet but I'm sure there will be some talks about it soon.

"At the minute, I'm just playing football and trying to get promoted. I'm happy at Charlton. I've been here 10 years, I'm happy and I've got a relationship with the fans, too."
