Newcastle target Origi told to forget Liverpool departure

Divock Origi has been told he must stay with Liverpool beyond the January market.

The Reds have no intention of allowing the forward to leave during the January transfer window, says the Northern Echo, amid interest from Newcastle United.

The Magpies hoped the 26-year-old would be tempted by the chance to kickstart his career with a six-month loan spell on Tyneside.

But Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is set to shut down any possibility of him moving to St James' Park.

Origi currently finds himself behind Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino in the attacking pecking order at Anfield.

But Salah and Mane are due to head to Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of December, representing Egypt and Senegal respectively.
