Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio has signed a new contract with the club.

The centre-back, who is wanted by Newcastle United, has been rewarded for his excellent displays this season.

Inácio will have an updated release clause in the contract as well.

Fabrizio Romano reports that his deal runs until 2026, and the release clause goes up to €45 million.

The Magpies may have to look elsewhere in the summer, but considering their finances, may even be willing to pay the defender's buyout clause in the summer.
