Newcastle United are interested in Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge for the January market.
ChronicleLive says Newcastle see the Championship as a more viable market considering their precarious league position and two names from the second tier reportedly feature on their list of targets - Blackburn Rovers marksman Ben Brereton Diaz and Blades midfielder Berge.
Injury has hindered Berge this season but the 23-year-old managed to play the entirety of the second-half for Sheffield United in their 1-0 away win over Fulham earlier this week.
He arrived at Bramall Lane from Belgian outfit Genk in January 2020 and made 29 appearances in the Premier League before the Blades suffered relegation to the Championship last season.
An engine and powerful runner, Berge would give Magpies boss Eddie Howe a strong option in midfield if a deal was to be struck.
