French defender Yoann Barbet has spoken about his reasons for wanting to leave Brentford.
The 25-year-old, who is a target for Newcastle, was offered a new contract by the Championship club.
However, he has turned it down and wants to end his four year association with the team.
He spoke with football.london to explain his decision.
Barbet said: "I'm disappointed not to stay here. I would have loved to stay, but it is football. I had the opportunity to sign a contract, but I turned it down.
"I want to try something new. And the other part of football - the contract and everything. So I decided not to sign it.
"I don't know where I will be but I'll find something interesting for me and for my career. But I spent four years here and it's been amazing for me, and especially in London - it could have been worse - so I'm really pleased with what I've done here."
"Maybe I'll stay in England, maybe I'll go to Spain. At the moment I don't know yet.
"It's exciting. I look forward to knowing where I will be. But I'm confident, so hopefully I'll know soon."
