Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon is desperate to see manager Rafa Benitez sign a new deal.
Rondon says it would be a huge blow if Benitez decided to leave at the end of the season.
He told Mundo Deportivo: "The fans love him very much. He remained despite of being relegated, returned the team to the Premier, and they are very grateful.
"It would be a pity if he decided to leave because he has done a fantastic job at Newcastle. I hope he reached an agreement with the owners of the club."
Asked about the manager's relationship with owner Mike Ashley, Rondon continued: "The same that is counted in the media.
"There have been differences but it is not up to us, as players, to get into that question. What happens in the offices is not our responsibility."
