Newcastle striker Cisse wants scoring purple patch

Papiss Cisse is hoping he can regain last season's scoring form after opening his Newcastle United account for the season last night.

The Senegal striker netted in the 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Manchester United and is now confident that his purple patch of 13 goals in 14 Premier League matches last term can find its way back to him after a barren beginning to the new campaign.

"Yes," he told Newcastle's official website when asked if he can go on a scoring spree.

"I am very happy. For me it was very good to score.

"Two would have been very good but a goal didn't happen at that time."
