Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has suffered a groin strain and will miss this weekend's visit of Wolves.
Newcastle are also sweating on the severity of a knee injury to star defender Fabian Schar, says the Daily Mail.
Both players picked up the problems during last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea, a result that leaves the Magpies in the bottom three.
Carroll is yet to start a game since rejoining his hometown club in August having undergone ankle surgery in March.
Although the groin injury is not thought to be serious, it is nonetheless a setback in his bid for full fitness.
