Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll was upset with himself for missing a great chance to score early on at Manchester United.
The Geordie striker emerged as Newcastle's man of the match after a dominant display which kept Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans on their toes.
Carroll told the Evening Chronicle: "I had my chance, and I should have put it away, and we had a few other chances as well, and we could have been ahead.
"I should have scored the first one when Joey put the ball in from a corner. It was a great ball and, on another day, I would have put that in. Obviously we knew it was going to be difficult, and it was.
"I thought for the first 35 minutes we did well.
"We kept the ball well, and didn't let them do what they wanted to do. Then the first goal went in, and they took control.
"But we still worked hard."
