Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll was delighted to hear the fans chanting his name again at St James' Park.
The Geordie striker made his first appearance for the club since 2010 as he sprinted on to the hallowed turf for the final eight minutes plus stoppage time of the stalemate against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He told ChronicleLive: "I was itching to come on.
"I was warming up and looking up and down, thinking: 'Now, now, put me on!'
"The clock was ticking down but 10 minutes at the end, I'll still take that."
Carroll was roared up and down the touchline as he warmed up and had fans chanting: "Andy Carroll - he's one of our own" as he made his second debut.
He reflected: "It was really good. I was warming up on the side and heard the cheer, it was amazing."
