Borussia Dortmund are believed to be closing in on the signing of Moussa Sissoko.

French publication L'Equipe is reporting that French midfielder Sissoko is 'very close' to a move to Dortmund.

The report suggests that discussions have occurred regarding a summer transfer but no transfer fee has yet been mooted.

It was believed that the Magpies had whacked a £35million fee on the 26-year-old's head but manager Rafa Benitez played that down by simply suggesting the relegated club were attempting to hold onto their best players.

It looks as though Sissoko will leave St James' Park this summer, as he is too good for the Championship, but whether it be a move to the Bundesliga or back to the Premier League remains to be seen.
