Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez could throw Elias Sorensen into the fray after his superb U23 form.

The Sun says Benitez has promoted the 19-year-old to first-team training ahead of Saturday's clash at home to Bournemouth.

Danish youngster Sorensen scored twice in the 4-1 win against Manchester United Under-23s last Friday to take his season tally to 13.

Toon have scored just seven Premier League goals this season and are second-bottom only to Huddersfield (5).

Joselu is leading scorer with two while fellow forwards Salomon Rondon, Yoshinori Muto and Ayoze Perez have just one each.

Sorensen's rise to first-team training could see him introduced into the fold as Benitez desperately tries to save the Magpies from a second relegation in three years.
