Salomon Rondon believes Newcastle United were unfortunate to lose to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League first round.

The Magpies' new striker hopes his side will have more luck when they face Cardiff on Saturday.

He said: "It was a shame to lose at home, but the team played really, really well. We created chances, which is important for everyone, and we have to keep going – it is the only way.

"We shoot [against] the post twice, but it was not to be for us, which is a shame. But the important thing is to create chances, and we have to keep that going."
