Newcastle United are set to miss out on Ibrahima Sissoko.

The Strasbourg midfielder is close to signing a new contract with his present club.

The 21-year-old was linked with a move to Newcastle by The Sun.

The paper claimed that a transfer was very close, with the deal set to be completed in January.

But now ChronicleLive suggests that Strasbourg are close to tying down Sissoko for several more years.

The Ligue 1 outfit are confident the 21-year-old will renew and commit his immediate future to the club.

His current contract runs to 2022.
