Newcastle United are moving to hijack Celtic's move for Stoke City winger Liam Lawrence.

The News of the World says the 28-year-old midfielder is keen to move to Celtic but is worried Stoke will price him out of a dream move.

However, Newcastle have now entered the fray - putting in a call to Tony Pulis to express their interest.

Former Sunderland player, Lawrence, became frustrated last year at the lack of first-team opportunities at Stoke last year, and said last week he fancied a go at Celtic.
