Newcastle scout Pedro Campos: We've offered players to Cordoba

Newcastle United scout Pedro Campos has revealed they offered several players to a Spanish Segunda Liga club this season.

Campos - who followed Benitez to Liverpool, before overseeing Real Madrid's scouting operations during the United manager's short tenure at the Bernabeu, too - compiles dossiers on opposition teams, as well as potential player recruits, for Newcastle.

"Whenever it has been in my hands, yes," Campos told ABC de Cordoba when asked if he had ever attempted to help his childhood club, Cordoba, who are languishing in the second division's relegation zone.

"In fact, I'm going to tell [you] something that few people know. This summer, when I saw the problems that Cordoba had with the signings, I sent a list of players for a possible loan from Newcastle - but it did not happen.

“It's [my support for Cordoba is] something that I have marked on the skin, something I feel. Yes, I am a follower and sufferer.

"And, therefore, wherever I am, I always try to be aware of what the team is doing and have as much information as possible - with permission from Newcastle, of course."
