Newcastle's Wheelhouse determined to overcome injury

Newcastle Jets midfielder Jobe Wheelhouse is determined to get himself right for Saturday night's semi-final against Gold Coast United.

The 24-year old has been out since January 30 when he injured his groin against North Queensland Fury forcing him to miss the last two matches of the regular season but is intent on overcoming the problem so he does not experience the same feeling as he did in the 2007/08 season when he missed the Jets Grand Final triumph over the Central Coast Mariners.

"Missing the grand final, I was pretty gutted," Wheelhouse said.

"It has been burning me for the past couple of years to get back in the final series.

"I am chomping at the bit, and will be out there tearing into them for sure."

And Wheelhouse knows, with the amount of injuries the club currently has, his presence will be required come Saturday.

"I have to play, it's as simple as that," he added.

"We need as many hands on deck as we can, especially with the injuries we have."
