Newcastle United manager John Carver has condemned the alleged spitting incident involving one of his players on Wednesday night.
Manchester United defender Jonny Evans and Magpies striker Papiss Cisse clashed during the Red Devils' 1-0 win at St James' Park with both players appearing to spit in the direction of each other.
It's alleged that Evans initiated the act before Cisse retaliated but regardless of who is the guilty party, Carver felt it is an action that is simply not a part of football.
"You can't do it can you? It's one of the worst things in football," said Carver.
"But I can't comment on it, I just know there was a fracas on the halfway line and I need to have a look at it."
The incident was not detected by matchday referee Anthony Taylor but is likely to be investigated by the Football Association with both players potentially facing retrospective action.
