Newcastle United have joined the race to sign the highly-touted striker Alexis Claude-Maurice from Lorient.
The Geordies join Arsenal, West Ham and Sevilla in the hunt for the Ligue 2 man, says the Daily Star.
Claude-Maurice scored 14 goals in 16 Ligue 2 appearances last season.
Newcastle find themselves in somewhat of a predicament at the moment however with rumours of a takeover at the club.
And with boss Rafa Benitez's contract at St James Park running out at the end of the month, the immediate future of the club is uncertain.
This probably explains why no signings have been made as yet in this summer transfer window.
One player who could depart this summer is Sean Longstaff after Manchester United renewed their interest in the midfielder.
