Newcastle United are reviving their interest in AS Monaco fullback Antonio Barreca.

The Daily Mail says Newcastle have identified Barreca as an alternative to Jordan Lukaku after the Belgian's proposed move fell through.

Rafa Benitez wants the Monaco left-back to sign before the end of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old Italian was a previous target and interest has been revived after Thierry Henry's sacking.
