Newcastle ready to move for release Everton striker Josh King

Newcastle United are ready to move for released Everton striker Josh King.

The Evening Chronicle says King is heading for the exit door at Goodison Park after failing to impress on Merseyside with no goals in 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

King was on Steve Bruce's wish-list 12 months ago but the striker ended up staying at AFC Bournemouth in the Sky Bet Championship after failing to get a move last summer.

King shares the same German-based agency as current United striker Joelinton, ROGON GmbH & Co.KG, with head of recruitment Steve Nickson having good ties with the player's representatives.

Having worked with ROGON before on the £40million Joelinton deal, the chance to get King on a free transfer will now present itself to Newcastle and potentially continue the Bournemouth links on Tyneside with Matt Ritchie, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser already onboard.
