Newcastle United have allayed fears that right back DeAndre Yedlin could be out with a serious knee injury.
Yedlin suffered the injury during the Premier League clash against Tottenham at the weekend. However, the club have confirmed that follow up tests showed the damage was not as bad as first feared.
The 25-year-old American will be out for the next game against Cardiff, but he could be back shortly after.
A statement issued via the club's official website read: "The club can confirm that the knee injury sustained by DeAndre Yedlin on Saturday was not serious.
"The USA international defender limped off towards the end of United's season opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
"However, he has been assessed and undergone treatment this week and is likely to resume training with his team-mates shortly."
