Newcastle United are showing interest in Manchester United's Victor Valdes.
Reports are suggesting that the Magpies will go after the Spanish goalkeeper in the wake of the season-ending injury suffered by Tim Krul on the weekend.
Krul injured the cruciate ligament in his right knee while playing for Holland on Saturday and is now set to be sidelined for the remainder of the Premier League campaign, which has Newcastle scurrying for a replacement.
Steve McClaren recalled youngster Freddie Woodman from his loan spell with Crawley Town but is without the injured Karl Darlow as well meaning only the 18-year-old and third-choice Rob Elliot are available.
This has led to speculation that the Magpies manager will move for Valdes who is currently frozen out by Louis van Gaal and likely to leave Old Trafford before the winter transfer window opens.
