Newcastle United are set to lodge a bid with Bournemouth for Matt Ritchie.

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are hoping to lure the winger to St James' Park despite the fact he wants to remain in the Premier League.

Additionally, Sky Sports suggests that Newcastle and Bournemouth are in talks regarding the transfer of Ritchie.

With Newcastle suffering relegation to the Championship, it may be seen as an ambitious move to try and sign Cherries star Ritchie, but Rafa Benitez is hoping the size of the north east club plus his presence as manager could be enough to turn his head.

It is understood that Scotland international Ritchie, 26, would cost Newcastle around £12million.
