Newcastle United's players are behind manager Steve Bruce.

The Daily Star says Newcastle's players remain united behind Bruce despite the Toon chief's future at St James' Park being shrouded in doubt.

Amanda Staveley's Saudi-backed takeover is expected to be announced within days which will, overnight, transform Newcastle into one of the world's richest clubs.

Already, the Geordies are being linked with some of Europe's biggest names.

And Bruce's own position looks under threat despite the 59-year-old guiding his hometown club to the brink of Premier League safety and the FA Cup quarter finals for the first time in 13 years.

But while there is excitement within the camp at what the future holds once the £300m takeover is rubberstamped and a new regime replaces Mike Ashley, the playing staff are in no hurry to see a managerial reshuffle.
