Newcastle paying record money to land Hoffenheim striker Joelinton

Newcastle United are paying up big to land Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.

The Brazilian has been on Tyneside this week with his agent to complete the move.

BILD says Newcastle will pay an initial €44m for Joelinton with the fee rising to €53m.

The deal will become TSG's richest in their history, beating the €41m paid by Liverpool for Roberto Firmino.

Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder concedes: "Of course it is a pity that he leaves, but that is part of the philosophy of Ajax as well as of Hoffenheim or other clubs."
