Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has reportedly met with two Mexican businessmen about the club's sale.

The Newcastle owner has been looking for investors to take over the club, but has so far failed to attract any serious offers.

Ashley held a meeting in London last week, claims the Athletic, but the talks are believed to have come to nothing.

He is said to have come across as "rude" and it now seems the negotiations will not progress further.

The Mexicans had harboured an interest in buying Newcastle since watching the film Goal! in which fictional footballer Santiago Munez - of Mexico - earns a trial at the club and goes on to become a professional.
