Aleksandar Mitrovic's Newcastle nightmare might be over soon.
According to French radio outlet RMC, the Serbian striker has 'opened negotiations' with Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.
The man who once was a fan favourite hasn't got a look in under Rafa Benitez this season.
He has featured in just six Premier League games this season and scored one goal.
In his debut season for the Magpies back in 2015/16, Mitrovic scored nine Premier League goals and established himself as a future number 9 for the club.
But after failing to impress Benitez this season, Mitrovic recently stated that he hadn't received enough of a chance to play and was keen to find himself a new challenge.
"I persistently waited for the chance over the past months and I did not get it," he said.
"I'm sorry because, after all, I loved Newcastle, but it's time for me to look more to myself, to find the best solution for my career.
"I tried to be honest with myself and my team-mates at every training and match.
"And the fact that I did not get a chance is simply not up to me.
"Everyone knows that I was left unintentionally in the background."
