Newcastle United are reportedly on the verge of signing FC Basel striker Albian Ajeti on loan.

The Daily Mail is reporting the Magpies are hopeful on securing the services of the 18-year-old for the remainder of the season, with a view to making the deal permanent during the summer.

Ajeti is a Swiss U-21 international who has scored five goals in 17 first team appearances for Basel and would inject some youthful exuberance into Steve McClaren's Magpies squad.
