Newcastle midfielder Shelvey admits regrets leaving Liverpool

Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey admits he regrets leaving Liverpool.

Shelvey has said he should never have left Liverpool.

Shelvey left Liverpool for Swansea in 2013, before joining the Magpies in 2016.

“I probably shouldn't have left Liverpool," the former Charlton Athletic youngster told the Newcastle Chronicle.

“I had the option to stay but I felt I had to go away as I was at that age where I wanted to play football matches."

Shelvey, 27, added: “You'd get a game one week, big players would come back and you'd be out of the team next week. I came away from Liverpool and kinda had regrets."
