Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino is ready to move to Real Sociedad.

Marca says Merino has chosen Real Sociedad as his next club.

Reports in Spain on Saturday said Merino, who had plenty of interest in his native country, would make his mind up in the next week as to where he wanted to play his football next season.

The midfielder's representatives have reportedly met with a number of club's in the past few weeks and the report claim Sociedad have won the race.
