Newcastle midfielder Longstaff: Players agree Howe has been brilliant

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff says he's happy playing for manager Eddie Howe.

Howe has done his best to keep Longstaff, off contract in June, involved and he also keen for him to put pen to paper on a four-year deal. Longstaff was rotated for the 1-0 loss to Liverpool having played his part in a 3-0 win at Norwich a week earlier.

When asked about his relationship with Howe, Longstaff said: "He's been brilliant, the gaffer. You can ask anybody in the changing room.

"Just the way he's gone about his business, he's someone you want to play for. When you're not playing, it can become easy to lose interest, but not under this manager or staff.

"They've got everyone together, pulling in the same direction. No matter where people play position-wise, everyone's ready to run through brick walls for them.

"When that happens, you start picking up results."

Longstaff has started just 12 Premier League games from 35 matches so far. The club offered him a new deal but the midfielder is also eager to get assurances on a game plan, says Chronicle Live.
