Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton is unsure of what sort of reception he will receive from Everton fans today.
Barton grew up supporting Everton and his ties to the club remain strong.
He said: "I don't know whether the fans see me as the Evertonian that got away or what. I was there when I was a youngster and have had a couple of chances to go back and it's never been right.
"But it's my club and when I stop playing it still will be. My family are all Evertonians and it's a game I look for as soon as the fixtures come out.
"When I was a kid they always seemed to be fighting relegation. But my dad would get the video of the 1985 Cup Winners' Cup final victory against Rapid Vienna to show me why I should always be an Evertonian. I must have seen the video of it 4,000 times."
