Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has confirmed the club have signed Mark Gillespie.

The Toon academy product arrives back at St. James' Park from Scottish club Motherwell.

"The deal has been signed in the last 24 hours," Bruce confirmed after Toon's loss to Manchester City in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final.

"We're delighted to have him onboard.

"It just goes to show, he went away as a youngster and played games and now we welcome him back."
