Family sources of Matheus Nunes expect him to stay with Sporting CP.

The midfielder is interesting several English clubs, including Newcastle and Manchester City, while Atletico Madrid are also keen.

However, Humberto Salvador, the player's godfather, said: "There are no proposals.

"It makes no sense to be talking about something that is not a reality, there is nothing concrete. At the moment there is nothing.

"Concrete things are now happening: he has a contract with Sporting, he's in tune with the club and, if he's going to stay, he's happy.

"If the opportunity arises to go to a big [European] team, if Sporting agrees to negotiate and he wants to go, things happen. He will evaluate the project if it is also interesting for him."
