Newcastle lose ale as well as top flight status

Newcastle are set to lose their favourite beer - Newcastle Brown Ale.

In the same year as the Geordies lost their football club to the Championship, they will now lose their ale as Heineken (brewer of Newcastle Brown) has uprooted and moved from Gateshead to Tadcaster in North Yorkshire.

The beer has been brewed on Tyneside for 82 years but will no longer operate in Newcastle.

In the football world, the Magpies are currently making a good fist of their plight in the second tier, sitting three points clear on top of the table.
