Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has wrote-off LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham's value to England's World Cup qualifying campaign.
Former Three Lions skipper Shearer said: "If I was Becks, I'd have phoned Capello and said 'Give me five or 10 minutes near the end so I can get my 100th cap and then I'll go'.
"I think he should retire because there are younger players coming through like David Bentley and Aaron Lennon.
"They are maybe not better than Beckham was seven or eight years ago, but we can't tell how good Becks is now because he's playing thousands of miles away."
