Newcastle United are ready to submit a formal transfer offer for Maximo Perrone.

Both manager Eddie Howe and director Dan Ashworth are ready to make moves in the January transfer window to ensure the Magpies have an even stronger squad.

Per journalist Agustin Sileo, Argentine youngster Perrone who plays for Velez Sarsfield is at the top of their list.

The 19-year-old will be the subject of a formal transfer offer in the coming days.

He has already become a regular for Velez, managing two goals in 15 league matches.

Despite Velez's struggles in the league, Perrone has looked outstanding and Newcastle believe he is ready to make a step up in his career.
