Newcastle United are launching a bid for Everton midfielder Tom Davies.
The Daily Mail says Toon manager Steve Bruce is a big admirer of the 22-year-old and has asked his club to make a move with Newcastle offering around £12million.
Everton are open to offloading some of their squad but Davies is homegrown and has been used regularly by Carlo Ancelotti.
They would value him higher than £12m and would ideally offload some of their other big earners if they could find any takers.
Everton are keen to strengthen in defensive midfield after missing out on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Tottenham and have made that position one of their priorities.
Bruce has a limited budget but is keen to expand a British core to his squad.
