Newcastle United have emerged as a shock suitor for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
A consortium backed by the mega-rich Saudi Arabia state is close to securing a £300m takeover of the Tyneside club.
And the club's imminent owners want to make a splash by signing Senegal international Koulibaly, according to Foot Mercato.
The 28-year-old is keen to test himself in England, and it is unclear whether he would prefer to join a club playing in Europe.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have been keeping tabs on Koulibaly for some time.
Napoli would expect at least €80m for the towering centre-back.
