Newcastle won the semifinal first-leg 1-0 thanks to Joelinton's goal, with Pope needed at his best between the posts.
He said, "I let one in and VAR helped us out.
"We're happy with the defensive aspect of the game, we look solid at the back and the boys work hard to make it happen."
On Joelinton's goal, he added: "Great finish, great team goal. It's never easy when you come into a two-legged semi-final but you always want to get ahead and win the first leg.
"Every footballer wants to be part of, big semi-finals and delivering for fans.
"It's something you dream of."
