Newcastle keeper Krul beaming after Dutch heroics

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is a proud man after his penalty shoot out heroics for Holland.

It was a huge risk when Louis Van Gaal introduced Krul for Jasper Cillessen in the last minute of extra time.

However, it paid off, as Krul saved two out of five Costa Rica penalties to send the Netherlands through to the World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

"This is what you work for for seven weeks," Krul told FIFA after the final whistle.

"Now you can see, you have to do this with all 23 men.

"We had looked at them, but we didn't learn anything. The power was standing still and then going in. Me and Frans Hoek worked on it."
