Newcastle keeper Darlow hopes Southgate watching Liverpool draw

Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow was delighted with his clean sheet for their draw with Liverpool.

Darlow was outstanding for the 0-0 draw on Wednesday night.

He said, "Pleased to be out there doing what I can for the team when we take points like this tonight and it's a clean sheet I've been desperate for because I've only had a couple. It's credit to the lads and hopefully we can keep up the effort for Leicester."

On potential England call up, he also said: "Silly for me to not admit I'm aware of it, I know what's going on and hopefully I can just keep performing well and it might put me in contention. Just got to try and keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully it might happen."

And considering the next game against Leicester, Darlow concluded: "Another tough game, we've had a few tough ones in a row so we know we'll have to work extra hard and recover and keep moving up the table and doing the best we can."
