Newcastle jump into Man Utd, Arsenal battle for Rangers defender Jack Wylie

Newcastle have jumped into the battle for Rangers defender Jack Wylie.

Wylie recently made his debut for Rangers' under-18 side in the last fortnight after impressing with a string of stellar performances at youth level for the 'Gers. The youngster has also earned international recognition in recent times, making his debut Under-16 level for Scotland.

The Athletic reports Newcastle are joined by Manchester United and Arsenal in possessing an interest in Wylie, whilst it is little surprise Rangers are thought to be keen on tying Wylie to a new deal at Ibrox.

However, English clubs will have to wait until Wylie turns 16 or 'meets leaving school age' to complete a deal.

The likes of Billy Gilmour and Adedire Mebude act as examples of players who joined teams south of the border when turning 16, signing Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.
