Newcastle United are enthusiastic about signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel in the summer.

According to Tutto Juve, the 32-year-old is likely to leave Dortmund at the expiry of his contract in the summer.

The veteran defensive midfielder is interesting Juventus, but they may have to fight off interest from the Premier League's newest cash rich club in Newcastle.

The Mapgies are ready to negotiate a pre-contract with Witsel with a view to offering him €10 million a season in wages.

Such figures may be difficult for Witsel to reject, especially if he gets to play in a league as competitive as the Premier League.
