Newcastle Jets assistant coach Mark Jones is excited about the abundance of attacking options the club has ahead of the new A-League season. The Jets have been on a recruiting drive during the off-season and have bought in a number of quality players in a bid to strengthen their squad and Jones indicated that the playing group is one of the deepest the club has seen.
Adding to the plethora of forwards was yesterday's new striker signings - Italian Marcello Fiorentin and former China international Zhang Shuo - making the Jets attacking options now look complete.
"Jeremy Brockie came in to training this week from the World Cup, scored a couple of goals and looked very sharp," Jones told the Newcastle Herald.
"There is Michael Bridges. Marco Jesic can play in midfield or up front, and is an out-and-out goalscorer.
"We have Sean Rooney, Labinot Haliti, Sash [Petrovski]. Ali Abbas has trained at No.10 and in a wide role.
"Ruben [Zadkovich] has to come into the picture yet. He is such an athlete he could play anywhere, central midfield, as a fullback or as one of the wide ones up front."
